New Deer Deflector

Looks nice. Professional grade expletives not withstanding.

It looks cool but wont do much more than fold over if you hit a deer. You need a bumper such as a Buskstop or Roadarmor to really protect your rig from a deer.

It will require a heavy, high velocity deer! This is constructed with pretty heavy gauge tubing! As long as it keeps the deer out of the radiator......mission accomplished!

I lived in the midwest for a while and during certain parts of the year, just about one person a day from our office hit a deer on the way in (it was a big company). I saw very quickly how much damage they can do and how the brush guard-type bars held up.
I don't know if it would keep a deer out of the rad. I'd give it a 50% chance at best.

Just be careful if you buy those Deer Whistles that are supposed to keep them away!
If you mount the whistle backwards it will call them!!! :)

They work good....when you’re backing up. Should be OSHA required! :)

After seeing what deer do to trucks, lets hope you never find out if it works or not :):E
I would advise anyone to get some professional opinions from body shop owners in rural areas.
I usually travel during the night, I thought it was a good idea until my body shop owners advised me against it.
They told me most grill guards cause more damage than no grill guard and have seen them break apart and hit the windshield etc.
The thinner tubes can fly off upon impact and become projectiles. That's something you don't need to happen, especially that close to your head and face . Those signs should read 'I duck for deer' not 'I brake for deer'.

I do agree and I thought that this is a pretty good hefty grill guard but a good size deer is...a good hit . The middle part of that grill looks more stout the outer ends and that's what would concern me.
Lets just hope none of us hit a deer or anything for that matter.

It’s actually heavier than the Ranchhand on our truck. With an animal impact, it will certainly bend, possibly creating more damage to frame horns, headlight area, etc. My goal, and only goal, is to provide additional protection for the radiator. Keeping the engine “alive and well” is my primary intention!
I wish that I had this or similar, many years ago when I hit a deer at 65 in our old Dodge truck. Nothing would have helped, when we hit a moose in the Honda Accord....we were sideways and hit the moose with the drivers (mine) door! The Honda had more damage than the moose! :D

hitting a deer direct dead center/broad sided is different from a glancing partial hit. all of my encounters have not been direct.
and for those naysayers, my deer whistles also work for hippos, giraffes, and elephants.
