I think this is the device msmith mentioned:
Magellan SmartGPS. The idea of having advertisements and "valuable social information" inflicted on me while I drive sounds like the 5th circle of hell, but the idea of wireless connectivity between the GPS and PC sounds like an idea whose time has come. Garmin has had traffic and weather updates via a wireless connection to a phone or tablet data service. Now Magellan has gone further. Maybe this is the start of something.
