I left Poway and bought a ranch outside of Redding ....so I could hunt and fish more. Then sold out and moved to Lake Tahoe....stayed a few yrs and froze...then moved home to Texas.
Glad to be moved....? OMG...The most beautiful state has gone completely nuts.I would never again be in a state like that. Move as quick as you can and to a state like texas that takes care to defend citizens rights. popeye766 wrote:

Any way...actually turned out good....its 100 degrees in Texas by 1100 so I have to do this between daylight 0700 and 1000. I clean,sand ,clean and mask....sometimes takes many hrs work to spray 30 min.Everything I painted was primed with epoxy.
I usually use PPG but its so high ,this time I tried SUMMIT RACING.....bought $1300.00 worth paint and Id say its every bit as good as PPG. The bottom is single stage Urethane....went on good , no tiger stripping, or popping. Not a lot of gloss however. The red is candy apple 2 stage which is really good paint. Covered real good and the clear is wonderful....and this paint you can do over and over with 5 min flash.... The silver is the most metallic Ive ever seen in a standard base...when the sun hits it its astounding.....same clear.
When all is ready, I get up at 0630,wait for daylight,get all my stuff ready and wait till temp is 72-78 , humidity is in 70s and there is never a wind....and do it....
Piece of cake.....LOL....
Side note.....after I retired from the navy I work at the Escondido Union School district as design graphic artist and illustrator....till prop 13......I hated the job anyway....LOL.

Again, nice job. Painting is an art. As long as the conditions are right, the equipment is working correctly, the "PREP" was done correctly, the application of the paint is done correctly for the type/style/brand/stages etc. it sure makes one feel good when it's all said and done.
Poway huh? Nice place, I've told many that I wish I'd have spent more and moved to Poway, 19 years ago when we moved to Ramona. Way less of a drive and, a better class of people. But, we did what we did and, it's worked. I know it's a dumb question but, you glad you left CA? Someday too, I'm out of here.

Was it white gel-coat to start with? If so, did you clear over the gel-coat?
Do you have a rough idea of what the materials cost you?

OUTSTANDING JOB PARTNER!! I like it! Just wondering, on the technical side, what kind of paint/brand did you use? I've painted a few things in life i.e. cars, jeep, trailers, and more and have used Dupont Centauri for about 95% of my work and, it's a very forgiving paint. Great for the novice. That is great work bud, especially for driveway work. Done that too. I really like painting, I hate the PREP WORK!
