Being a fan of diesel engines and their longevity I'm happy to see more Diesel Class C Motorhomes at this years Tampa RV Show. Not that I'm ready for a new motorhome yet but the new Super C Motorhomes by Thor looked really good, especially for such a low price? I've found them on RV Trader for around 110K. They built both their new "Super C Motorhomes" on a Ford F550 Duper Duty Chassis, seems like one of the best choices for a diesel Class C RV. I saw that thing pop up on their website last week. Unfortunately it is only available with the diesel, not the V10. Until the CP4 fuel pump issues get sorted out, you can consider any diesel equipped with it a no-go for me.For those who have not heard, the CP4 problems aren't a simple "Argg motorhome won't start now I have to drop the tank" problem.Its more like "vehicle suddenly stalls in the middle of the freeway and then I have to buy a new fuel system for $11,000 because I got lucky unlike my neighbor who also had to buy a new motor for $22,000".There is lots of good info here:https://www.rv.net/forums/index.cfm/fuseaction/thread/tid/25850681/srt/pa/pging/1/page/1

When did this company start? Never saw a reference of them before. Is that the same chassis Gulf Stream (sp) was building the Super Nova on?

they have been building class c for about 3 years. they do not have dealers. buy factory direct

I wonder what percentage of buyers actually keep a class C for enough miles for the (hoped-for) extra durability of a diesel engine to matter? Seems like the tales of the house going to pieces due to leaks are far, far more common than worn-out gas engines. I understand the desire for one if it's a matter of moving extra weight, but I honestly can't recall but maybe one thread on replacing a gas engine in a C.

The layout looks good, however, and this is only from the pictures the Ford 550/650 looks no different than a 350 or 450? If I were going to spend the $$$ for a super C, I would want something to differentiate my rig from a regular C! Just MHO! To me the GMC chassis screams Super C!

I was at the Tampa show also. The week before, we stayed at a RV park where a couple had a new Nexus B. I was impressed and never having heard of Nexus, I looked it up online and saw their Ghost super C on the International Terrastar chaise with a Maxforce 7 V8 diesel. This is a real commercial engine that doesn't use PEF blue juice. I've been looking for a super C that can match my '06 Jayco Seneca GS35 in interior room, cabinet/cupboard storage, and basement storage (4 holds with pass thrus. We looked at the Thor and the Born Free, both on Ford F550. Being full-timers for 6+ yrs, I'm aware now that the diesel chaise will easily out last the coach. I do like the power, exhaust brake, and fuel mileage of my diesel. Nexus said they can do custom mods. Staying with what I have for now.

Don't get too excited. Navistar is no longer allowed to sell their engines in the US due to emissions non-compliance, and for now is purchasing Cummins engines to put in their trucks. The Cummins engines do use DEF, as will the future Navistar engines expected in spring.

Navistar Cummins engines
