New to diesel - airbags and storing RV

Brand new owner of a brand new Tiffin Red. Fourth RV - first diesel, love it already!

First time taking it to the storage lot where I suddenly went - uh oh! Knowledge gap here. Since I am not putting jacks down which automatically dumps the air, should I have manually dumped the airbags?? Will it do damage to leave the airbags inflated for three weeks? Should my normal procedure be to dump the air bags when the RV will be sitting for a while?

I of course, received zero info on care and use of air bags from the dealer.................. I will go back and dump if I should. Thanks for info.

  • I'll be watching this thread. My Phaeton is sitting in storage right now and I never thought about dumping the air. For that matter I stored it a couple of times last winter without doing it either. It seems fine and there is no specific instruction to dump the air for storage in any of the literature and there would be if Tiffin thought it was important.
  • Since it is new and you did not get any instructions on what to do I would call Tiffin in Red Bay AL and ask them. I understand that they have great customer service. JMO
  • I would guess that dumping the pressure will not harm anything. Leaving the 80 - 95 PSI in the air bags? Don't really know what the 10 year life will do to that.

3 weeks really does not matter - either way.

I do know that the GMC airbags said to keep a minimum 15 PSI in the front air bags all the time. My thought is so that the air bag is not deformed while driving down the road with no pressure in the bags. Inflating them to 25 - 35 PSI is normal for camper service.

  • I have mine plugged into shore power with the fridge running so I just leave the air leveling system on and it stays leveled all the time. Congrats on new MH!
