New to RV's, couple quick questions

Hi guys.

Some of these questions I have researched and found a little information and some I haven't found much, so I apologize if I am asking obvious questions.

I'm looking to purchase a 30'-35' Class A with slide outs for around 15K.

First question: I really want to be able to use the driver and passenger seats as chairs when parked. Is it possible to purchase after market swivels, or do I need to purchase an RV with them already?

In general, how loud are the generators while inside and about how much gas would I burn an hour running the AC during the summer? My research shows around a half a gallon, but that seems kind of low. Great if true.

Any advice on what to look for when physically inspecting the RV? I assume the check list is a little different than a car.

I greatly appreciate any and all advice and kindly thank you in advance.

Oh yeah, I'm going to be a full timer half the year+, any advice on memberships? Are they worth it? Some better than others? And by memberships, I am talking about extreme frugality here, like more than 10-15 a night I would just opt for boondocking.

  • I agree with the above post by J-Rooster.

As far as memberships, I don't think I would spend a lot of money on one, but Passport America is a good, and inexpensive one that will likely save you money.

    Good luck on your search.
  • Welcome to RV.Net! Most coaches the driver and passenger seats do swivel! Most generators run about about a gallon an hour to operate and loudness of generator IMHO is the newer the RV the quieter the noise, but you maybe able to purchase a exhaust muffler to help quiet noise. Most places that I have camped out don't allow generators to run after 10 P.M. (Quiet time). I would pay a small fee to a shop to have a coach inspected to protect your investment. I don't care for memberships and if you care to boondock here in Arizona the BLM has campsites from free for 30 days in certain areas. And when I was in Quartzsites, AZ. last (2011) at La Posa the BLM was charging $40.00 a month or $240.00 for 7 months.
