I understand the desire to have things located to be easily serviceable. However, in terms of accessing the water pump, we've had our rig for over 13 years and I haven't needed to access it yet. It's in a difficult to reach spot, but probably won't be impossible. Floorplan is top of the list and sometimes you just have to accept the shortcomings of the designers & engineers.
That said, I don't understand the need to access the water pump to winterize. Get yourself a small 120VAC air compressor and the proper fitting and blow the water out of the lines. There are a couple of steps, and I do turn on the pump during the blow out process to clear any water inside it. Then just put the pink stuff in the drains, and you're done. In the Spring, or whenever you need to use it, connect up the water and go.
With the compressor on board you can even winterize on the road, if necessary, or use it to inflate tires. Pink stuff...blech!!! LOL
