For what it's worth... I have a 2015 Newmar DS. Right out of the gate have 2 dead awnings, leaking hydraulic jack, bad visor motor, leaking kitchen sink, and a few other problems.
Since this is our first MH, I am not sure if this is typical for a new purchase. We were sold on Newmar because of their superior support. To be honest, we haven't seen it yet. Six month old DS and have had these problems for the past 2 months. I believe they rely on 3rd party contractors and component manufacturers.
Wanted to drop the MH off at an LA dealer for repair and was told by Newmar that the dealer will only repair units that they sold. Pretty tough for an east coast purchase while spending 6 months in CA.
Not sure if this is typical or just bad luck. Would be nice if Newmar called and checked up on the progress of the repair work. Last time I called to check up on shipped parts they said there is no record of my issues. This is after 10 weeks of calling almost every week. I have spoken to every one of the 7 support guys at Newmar at least twice. They found my records..... YEA!
To answer your question..... for me it is all about support. I have quality components, no denying that, but if they break, what good is paying extra for quality if you cannot get them fixed.
Newmar A+ on quality of workmanship and quality components, C- on customer support...
