Schwintek is made by Lippert.
These can be differentiated by the presence of the track on the side vs. the track underneath the slide out.
Newmar claims they invented the slide and when you see it, it's almost medieval looking in the cog wheel and track configuration, which equals very heavy duty, plus their flush slides are another nice feature for looks.
I was torn between Newmar and Tiffin, but my Tiffin had the floor plan and features I was looking for. You'll never regret buying a Newmar as far as I hear.

I don't know that this is an issue anymore for any manufacturer. The new glues don't really delam like they did a decade ago. I haven't heard any complaints of newer coaches from any brand with delam issues.

If you could swing the Newmar, do it...the support is outstanding, and the way they are built is why it is much better insulated (the heat and the cold are handled much better)...I'm not discrediting the Winnebago but the fact that Winne used Schwintek slides in some models where Newmar doesn't is enough for that decision...the schwintek slides while less of a problem with Winnebago, still are schwintek slides (ie if you put lipstick on a pig, it is still a pig)...Newmar does it differently....I have seen already this year two schwintek slides literally almost fall out of the coach at two campgrounds.

I agree with Hikerdogs. I hesitated to get into this, but the apples to oranges comparison is striking. I have a 2016 Winnebago Vista 30T. With many extras, my negotiated out-the-door price was $93,000. I looked on the Newmar website and the comparable model is a Baystar 3009. Although the floor plans are very similar, I like mine better. Looking at the specifications, I note that the Baystar is about 3,000# heavier. Part of that is the difference between a 22,000# and an 18,000# chassis. This is going to result in poorer fuel economy and better ride and handling for the Baystar. While I realize that some buyers would not agree, I am satisfied with the ride and handling of my Vista. Although I realize that the one who testifies first on fuel mileage never wins, I am satisfied with 8.2 mpg average fuel economy while towing a Subaru over the first 6,000 miles. This included a lot of mountain driving in the wind. The nearest Newmar dealer is 120 miles from my house and I would be bypassing two Winnebago dealers. I cannot imagine that either my wife or myself would be willing to pay at least another $30,000 for marginally better ride and handling. Whereas we have not been in a Newmar, we will take your word that it is more attractive, but there is no way that we would pay another $30,000 for appearance.

Absolutely loved our Newmar. We chose it after talking to many owners in campgrounds. We didn't find a one who was dissatisfied.

Exactly what models are you comparing? It appears a 2016 Baystar 3124 has a list price of about $144,000.00. If you're comparing it to a Winnebago product with a $30,000 lower list price it would be either the Vista LX or Sunstar LX, both of which start at $113,432.00.

While Newmar only makes 3 models in the gas lineup (Canyon Star, Baystar, and Baystar Sport), Winnebago makes 5. From least expensive to most expensive are:

Vista/Sunstar starting at $93,545.00

Brave and Tribute starting at $100,545.00 and $97,896.00 respectively

Vista LX and Sunstar LX starting at $113,432.00

Sightseer and Sunova starting at $157,658

Adventurer and Suncruiser starting at $178,940.00

In short I don't believe you are comparing apples to apples. I would expect differences between a $113,000.00 motorhome and a $144,000.00 one. If they were the same why would you spend $30,000.000 more for one than the other?

We looked at Winnebago, Thor, and Newmar in similar sized units, and by far the Newmar was much better built. So we bought a Bay Star Sport and are quite pleased with it so far. We have only had it since mid March. They are not perfect and we are still working through some new motorhome items, none of them major, just a pain as the dealer is 100 miles away. We would do it again.

Perhaps by comparing a motorhome that costs $30,000 more you are comparing apples to bananas .Check out other manufactures in your new price range.
