Newmar Slidout seal

I have bought seals from Steele Rubber Products for my RV. They have a great selection and many different products. These things aren't cheap but they are far better than the OEM on my rig.

You have a 2021 coach and Newmar replaced the seal twice? Or was it replace by a Newmar dealer? Somthing is just not right. I once owned a 1998 Newmar that I sold in 2012 and all the slide seals were original.

You may wamt to have a conversation with Newmar about this problem. Your coach is way too new to have this problem.

I assume this is the inside seal. If the peel and stick isn’t sticking I’d check and make sure the wood it’s being applied to is clean and dry, free of oils and dirt.

The foam rubber seal should NOT be the actual watertight seal for the slide room. I assume you are talking about the 1 inch square foam rubber "gasket" that is installed to keep the slide out interior flange/fascia from marring the inside walls? If so, there is a criteria for installing this type gasket/seal. 1. make sure the area is CLEAN. 2. The best application is done with a adhesive "enhancer". This is a type liquid that is spread on the area to be adhered to and promotes bonding. Usually when this is used and done right, it is a bear to then remove the new Gasket/seal. Doug

While Doug is certainly the expert on these things, I WILL say that my experience with the success of proper adhesion to the base material is completely dependent upon the surface preparation. Assuming, of course, the product isn't defective and has been stored & handled properly.

The prep requires that that surface be not only clean, but clean, Clean CLEAN!!! If an adhesive enhancer is recommended, as Doug suggests, then IT should be used as well.

Properly done, if someone needs to remove an item so affixed, they will most likely cycle through their vocabulary of "colorful words" numerous times during the process! :)

I would contact Newmar directly and perhaps they can correct the process the dealer is using to apply the seal.
