Check near the batteries for a large circuit breaker that feeds the hydraulic pump. It may have been hit accidentally while changing the batteries. It may look similar to this one:

any idea of location that it may be found?
The ones I've seen are generally located pretty close to the batteries, but I don't know just how National might have protected the motor or exactly where it would be. It could also be a fairly high current fuse like an ANL series, but I think I've only seen that on older motorhomes. Doug would probably have a better idea of the National specifics, but the pump likely has overload protection somewhere, and close to the power source is the most common location.
