Norcold 1200 gasket?

The door gaskets are bad on a fiend of mine's Norcold 1200.

Does anyone know of a place to get them?

Has anyone used a thin weather strip to replace them?

The first question I can answer. Norcold does not sell the weather strip seperate. they tell you that you have to order the complete door to get weather seal. Unsatisfactory is what i told them but all I got was a WE ARE SORRY!!!!!
  • Only fix for a Nevercold is to replace it with a residential refrigerator.
  • I say a posting were the owner fashioned a portion of the seal with Gorilla Duct Tape.

I used Gorilla tape to keep the door closed while it waited for the dump truck....:W...stupid design by dumb engineers....Dennis
  • Have your 'friend' contact this folks..........LINK

Measure doors.......ask them for seals that would fit.

Cut old seals off......glue new ones in place.

Simple, just send a PM to someone who is replacing the Norcold and pay to have him send the doors.

Sure they will only like to be paid the shipping - seems everyone is replacing the Norcold, and they run a thread on it!

    JMHO,
  • Kind of off subject but is it just Norcold or all the new and improved RV refrigerators one big failure waiting to happen?

My Dometic 2801 is original except for the door lock which I broke. I have none of the electronics of todays fridges and it only runs on 12VDC elect. or gas. I know that if something goes on it, parts are a premium but it's still going strong after 26 years of service. I have considered a fan for the exhaust stack but we seldom camp during the summer and if we do it's usually at the beach so the temperature differential is good and convection cooling of the exhaust is satisfactory.

    Just wondering.
