Oh My !! We ordered a Tiffin 2015 from a Dealer. We gave them a credit card for $5000.00 deposit. NOW I get a phone call saying it's a special order and they want money in full. Being told if something happens to us they are stuck with the Motorhome.We did have a contract that states we would pay in full June 23rd. I don't have a order number from Tiffin yet nothing that says it's even been ordered.This is crazy.Want everyone to know the order is Cancelled...No money out of our pocket. Called Tiffin this morning and talked to Ca. Rep. what a life saver he was. Thank you every one for your advise. What a great Website....

WOW! It is crazy.Tell the dealer to review the contract. That is what both of you agreed upon!I would contact Tiffin directly if I did not get satisfaction. I'm sure Bob Tiffin would want to be aware of this policy, even if he does not get involved in dealer disputes.

Worse than that, if something happens to them, you are out the cash. At the very most, I would agree to put the money in escrow. Our company builds custom products all the time. We only require half up front, and the rest is due on delivery. I'd almost be suspicious the dealer is having financial issues and is looking for cash flow. Even if the dealer got half up front, there is no way they could loose that on re-selling your motorhome if you backed out.

My bet is that Tiffin is putting the muscle on the dealer for up front money before they build your coach, probably because the dealer is on shaky ground financially.Go with Daveinet's escrow suggestion..

Do NOT give them the money up front. Dealers go out of business all the time, and if they do, you are SOL

No way Id ever do that! If they wont come off their hobby horse...then demand your $5000 BACK and walk somewhere else. The deal isnt so fantastic that someone else wont do it for you

I would cancel also and wait.
The 2015 Tiffins haven't even been released yet with the exception of the Breeze and the Bus.
If it were me I would want to see any new color changes, new options etc. Now you don't even know what's changing for 2015. I'd wait to see how things look after they are released.

never ever pay upfront the total cost of anything, IF theres a flood or the world ends YOU ARE OUT EVERYTHING. please rethink this .all the post above are telling you good things.

Usually if it is a reputable dealer they have a BIG line of credit with the bank. The manufacturer usually dosen' require up front cash unless the manufacturer has had a hard time getting the $$$ from the dealer for units sold

I would tell them that is not happening and go somewhere else.

I had a dealer try that when we ordered our first MH. I went to another dealer. It is not the manufacturers process to do this. Ended up that the dealer needed money. THen they tried to keep my deposit on a MH they never ordered. I involved the local attorney generals office. Got my deposit back, orderd the MH from another dealer and paid when it arrived.
