The oil doesn't "go bad" and there really is no down side to it. This yearly stuff is a money making scheme just like the oil change places telling people to change the oil in new vehicles every 3K. It just isn't needed.
I change the oil in my Cummins about every 18~20 months because it takes that long to get to the mileage interval.
I have a buddy that does maint. on big rigs. He can see no reason for the mythical 12 month figure.

Totally agree the Myth comes form the cummins manual where they say
XXX number of miles or annually All cummins manual say that and I believe that's when under warranty only suggestion
