Onan 5500 Starts then stops after releasing button

My service center contacted Onan. The rep. without hesitation told us to order a new fuel pump. we did. Quick starts & have run it for over 24hrs. continuously twice. No problems. Must be a common problem. I had put up with no starts, dying, & frustration for 3 yrs. Same generator as this post.
