If it stops as soon as you release the start switch it usually is no AC output. The controller must see AC to let the engine keep running. It could be dirty slip rings or a bad controller. Using metal like steel wool or sand paper can get imbeded in the slip rings and that is not a good thing. 3-M sanding pads are safer for cleaning them along with a spray of contact cleaner.
Thank you i like that as the reason for even opening it is because it was not getting 110 volts to the coach.
i did clean the rings the brushes run though i became concerned when the two leads going to the breaker measure continuity with ground
