Onan 5500 Starts then stops after releasing button

Mike, it is the right diagram, the gen is a delta-Wye rotor, similar to most alternators. Any output to ground is 120 single phase. There are 2 breakers on the gen, one 30 amp and one 20 amp.
Ken, you seem to be way ahead of the curve electrical and mechanical wise. Let us know what you find.
