I believe that you are saying that your generator completes the prime cycle, but nothing happens when it should be engaging the starter. My QD8000 did the same thing about a year ago. One of the spade connectors on the starter solenoid was loose and had probably developed some corrosion on the terminal.
The good news is that the problem was quickly solved with a pair of needle nose pliers. The bad news is that the problem terminal/connector was practically impossible to get to without removing a bunch of parts.
