Most Americans treat their RV's like automobiles-- put fuel in and use.

Most have no comprehension of the complexity of what they own and most really don't care.

Yes, that based on the many, many mechanical inspections I have done on coaches over the last two decades.

Finding one with complete maintenance records is a very rare occurrence. And, even then, they often have glaring omissions. Easy to find 15 year old DP's with no change or service of air dryer, regular automobile coolant in the cooling system, etc.

For every DP that is worn out, probably 20 times that number die from neglect.

Remember we bought a coach that sat in dry storage 9 years. and went thru the wake up period.

There have been numerous debates on this site and many others debating gas vs diesel. If you feel the need to start another please feel free to do so - thats not what this thread was about.

Now...time to get this one back on track.

maybe in trucks, that are constantly being driven, (our coach isn't) and the internal working of the Cummins has not been a bother. just the little stuff.

Think about 55k miles in 18 years, We do short trips that is hard on the Newmar that was built well for long trips on good highways, Our Newmar is taken off the freeways a lot. we love to boondock :)

So we pay the price. and the Newmar always gets us home.

Nothing about cost to maintain and no spending more on maintaince does not define a hassle.

I have had both. Went to Freightliner school in S.C. and was feed the diesel diet of constant maintenance. The next year I sold my new Entegra bought a bath & a half gas Bounder and could not be happier. Maintenance is no longer running my RV life and the engine noise is minor.

Didn't mean to start a pissing match regarding diesel vs. gas.

For our needs (2 people, 2 dogs, very little to no travel out west in mountains) and having little to no experience with diesels, I figured a gas MH might be our best bet, eh?
