We've never had an issue with varmits or critters in the various motor homes. We do get an occasional outbreak of ants that crawl up the power cord. Simply spray the inside of the MH with household bug spray and do the same for all the storage areas. Keep the grass cut around the MH if you park it on grass. If you are really concerned about snakes the you can get snake repellant at many home stores like lowes.
There is a difference between roaches and palmetto bugs. Palmetto bugs are much bigger.
Now, I have had two snakes show up in my home which of course is a bit disconcerting, but both have been friendly ones.
