Parking Brake light

Our Monaco's (2008 Knight, rr8r chassis, cummins isc, powergear hydraulic levelers) parking brake interlock has always been a little "iffy"

Sometimes when I turn the ignition key to on, the powergear jacks go into emergency retract.
Other times, the powergear panel will light it's "set parking brake" light, and refuse to extend the jacks.

The parking brake light in the dash does go on and off with the parking brake knob, but it has always been kinda dim. The actual parking brakes work fine.

Right now, this intermittent problem has become hard and firm.

Does anyone have anything on the wiring or known issues on this system?

I have a different coach but sometimes the parking brake switch closes, sometimes it does not.. I have to release the parking brake and re-set it, then it works, sometimes 2 or 3 times.. I could fix but ... labor exceeds benefit.
  • Post was stationary.
    Consider it a learning experience.
Unfortunately sometimes we have to learn things the hard/expensive way.

  • Good troubleshooting, Jim!
My E-brake switch started acting "flakey". It is an open-style of switch, so I was able to clean the contacts with an electronic cleaner spray to bring it back to life.
  • Diplomat Don has the correct part number for the pressure switch. Nason will not sell direct but you can buy the pressure switch from one of the following:

Order from one of the following Nason Distributors

    Cross Company 866-219-8217
    Sunsource 800-228-5800
    Flow Dynamics 205-581-1200
    Hydraulic Energy Products 800-800-3471
    Fluid Power Equipment Co., 877-471-8999

I found this oin another forum, a few years old. I struck out at my local napa, I'll try to call Monaco tomorrow, and start running down those other numbers on Monday.
  • OK, well this one turned out to be easy.
The switch is right under the parking brake knob, left side of the driver in the armrest panel.
It is a nason SM IC 66 RWP28, Monaco part number 16614841

Mine was bad. I jumpered around it to get my jacks down, and will find a source on the internet to order it this weekend.
