Peeling on the front of the cab (indicative of heat)?

Was looking to purchase an RV. Nobody really has any clue what caused this. My concern was heat damage, however a it was also mentioned that this happens all the time.

  • I'd have a hard time believing that was caused from heat. I've seen Diamond Shield and 3M masks discolor but not peel. Ours being an 04 is starting to look bad but nowhere near that condition. The other thing is why is the carpet all stained???? If it were from heat it didn't appear to have hurt the linoleum next to the carpet. The doghouse up front doesn't seem to be affected either, that's where there would be a lot of heat. Almost appears to have been an intrusion of some kind of liquid. Don't really know I guess. Just taking shots in the dark. Is there any odor inside the coach?????
  • We had two new Bounders delivered to the store yesterday covered in road salt, which to me, looks the same as in the above pictures. Regardless, I'd run far away from any RV with water damage.
  • Looks like what our Diamond Shield did before we had it removed, only worse. Check to see if there is a plastic film on the discolored areas. Paint was fine when Diamond Shield was removed. Bigger concern is carpet. Looks like some kind of major leakage or spill.
  • No smell and all of the cabinetry looked great. No signs of swelling or subfloor damage. My concern was water damage. It looks like a decal is peeling though on the outside on the front cab. All of the exterior lights work and no issues with the motor. Interior and exterior roof look good. Very Strange
  • I would require pressure testing of the rig to insure that rig is water tight - an explanation from dealer about the discoloration and then factor into the price the cost to repair damage. Remain a wise buyer who is aloof and is willing to pay fair value and understand the cost of fixing issues.
  • From the pictures, it almost looks like someone tried to remove the clear shield and failed. It appears to be the same above the entry steps. As for the leaks, the one behind the drivers seat appears to be from the slide. Either it was not retracted fully when driven in the rain, or stored with the slide not fully retracted. The leak/stain in the slide area, I would be concerned with. As others have said, leaks are a concern, especially if they have been long term. The front outside is just cosmetic, but unless you can determine if the leakage is a one time thing, you may want to pass on this one, unless you can do major repairs yourself.
