Go to home depot or lowes, search for a roll 4ftx24ft insulation barrier. foil on both sides with bubble wrap in the middle. Don't care how you install it or hang it. But it would work better on the outside. This will keep the heat out, make rig dark and will allow the AC to work efficiency. We live outside of Apache Junction, base of the Superstition mountains and know too well about the heat. But this stuff really works. Summer = Outside, Winter = inside.
How would you guys recommend attaching the foil/bubble wrap insulation to the outside of the coach?
As long as you have external window covers, just slide it up under the cover - putting it on the outside of the window is 100% better then being on the inside - but it assumes that you have outside covers.
No window covers on my coach. any suggestions as to how to secure the foil/bubble wrap material to the outside of the windows?
Oh boy, a chance to give back to this forum that’s helped me so much.
I used that Lowes insulation barrier on the inside of the windshield in my RV. I cut it out to fit on the inside of my windows and it’s helped immensely, though I can see how it would be better on the outside. To make window coverings that fit, I took 2’x3’ poster board sheets and lightly stuck them to the inside of the passenger window with tape, cutting smaller pieces and taping it all together so that the inside of the glass was covered right up to the edges. This gave me a poster board template of the window. Then I pulled it out, laid the template flat on the insulation material, traced around the edge with a Sharpie marker and cut it out with a scissors. I simply flipped the template sheet over and was able to make a similar cover to fit the driver’s side window. Because of the way my coach is designed, I left large flaps on top that pressed the insulation barrier sheet against the brackets for the window visors to help hold it in place (and put the visors in the up position to hold it firmly in place). It makes a big difference and helped me get through the recent +100 heat we recently had.
BTW I’m new to this full timing myself, and though I thank God every day for my AC, the air-flow noise alone on my one AC unit is quite loud. I hate to think what three AC’s running at once would sound like.
I hope this helps.
