Personally I would invest the $300 on a complete set of outside window screens and then cut the sheets of insulation to slide underneath - being on the outside of the window is so much more efficient than on the inside.
I know this only works for us because we removed the couch in our RV but we added a 3rd AC unit - a portable one and it's quieter than the roof airs and it doesn't matter what temperatures are outside, we can dial in any inside temp we want with all 3 running.
