porcelain tile in gas motorhome

I have a 2015 Winnebago Sightseer 35G. We don't like the vinyl. Would like to put down porcelain tile. I understand it would add some weight. Wondering if any gas has tile and?or if anyone has added porcelain tile to a gas model.
  • I know the Georgetown (gas) has a ceramic tile option. to me it made the whole MH seem cold and uninviting. didn`t have the warm inviting feeling. have you considered something like Pergo wood laminate flooring?
  • Not only the weight, but your chassis may flex too much.

I've seen a couple of posts where they did laminate that looked like stone.....came out very nice. Plus.....much easier to work with!
  • We went with a solid PVC product that looks just like barn wood. Looks fantastic! They installed it diagonally and everyone who sees it loves it. Not cheap, but worth it. And yes, ours is a gasser.
  • The wife and I are going with laminate in our Winnebago Adventurer in the near future! Were tired of the carpet!
  • I agree with Scott, our '05 Dolphin has tile, along with Corian countertops, they had lots of weight. Look around, there should be good, attractive vinyl products on the market.

  • It will add a lot of weight. Even a smallish kitchen can be nearly a thousand pounds. I know this because I've torn them out and been weighed at the dump.
If you have never checked tile out, you should go to the store and pick up a small box of it. It's like a box of rocks.
You will loose some performance and fuel efficiency and unlike a DP with all it's torque, it may be very noticeable.
