Potable water pump

So my pump has given up I think. I tested the wires right by the pump and it's definitely getting power to the unit. Thoughts?

When replacing the pump do I need To get a certain type or can I just use one that fits the pump fittings? I'd like to spend as little As possible as I'm selling The rv soon.

First, remove it and do a bench test. Then take it apart, clean it up good, including the pressure switch and use some silicon grease or vaseline on all gaskets for putting it back together. Tighten it up good and even and you should be good to go.

You should be able to find one around $75.

You might find the best deal online, such as Amazon.com

I would replace with the same model, so that the lines line up, and you don't end up needing to find and buy plastic water line fittings.

For what it is worth, I installed a much more expensive 4.5 GPM variable speed pump, and used flex lines from Home Depot to reduce the vibration. I also had to install a new relay, as my electroic pump controller was only rated at 7.5 amps, and the new pump can use as many as 10 amps.

Where is the controller relay normally located. Is it part if the pump or separate?

Also check the pressure switch on the pump.

Cool. How would I do that?

These are standard RV Water pumps... Find one at many sources.. I would think this is a normal cost you would expect to find...

  • Buy a cheap RV pump or you won't have the pressure shutoff. I've done several and they either thread on or the hose will fit on a supplied barb adapter
