Power gear compressor noisy

I have a 2007 Holiday Rambler Navigator that the Power Gear air compressor for leveling has become increasingly noisy. It sits underneath our bedroom area and wakes us up at night when it turns on. I don't think it comes on any more frequently than before, it just has increased in volume over time.
Has anyone replaced this unit, perhaps even with a different brand?
  • It is an air compressor. My coach has both hydraulic and air leveling.
  • Is it really an air compressor?
I have an older Power gear leveling system & it's hydraulic.
I had to replace the bearing under the pump.
  • Monaco used a cheap compressor. Not worth fixing. We replaced ours with one from Valid( they mfrd. your power gear system). It comes with all the parts necessary for the install. Yours looks similar as mine is also a Firestone. You may have to make some modifications. Call Valid and they will send you a sheet with all the information. Has to do with a check valve.

  • We have the HWH system on ours and when the Compressor went out, we found an exact direct replacement at about a third of the cost from Zoro Tool. They have a website that you can search. I would expect a bearing either in motor or on the connecting rod for compressor. Either will be noisy and cause the noise and vibration your experiencing. Hope this may help, Happy Trails Bert
  • Instead of paying for a direct replacement compressor, I used this one with very good results.

  • No, I have removed the pump and bench tested it, very noisy. The rubber mounts were fine. I have no problem replacing with the same brand, just wondering if there are other brand options. I do appreciate the idea of moving the pump to a different location, thanks.
  • It probably has worn out rubber mounts and is vibrating more than before. We moved our compressor into a bay where our Aqua-Hot lives just forward of the drive axle on the passenger side. It is quite quiet there and completely out of the weather and dust and dirt.
