Prevost Bus or Newmar King Air

I am looking into getting my next RV and want to upgrade to either a Prevost Bus (marathon, vantare, etc) or a Newmar king air, all used.

I drove a new King air and and it was a great ride, but still had some wind noise at the door and windows. I have not driven a Prevost yet, but I hear the ride is great and a lot less wind noise.

Also want to hear about insulation and cold air seeping in around the windows.

Anyway I would like to get input from those that own or have owned a Prevost and a King Air on the pro's and con's.

Thanks

  • First off, I absolutely love the Prevost for the ride and handling. Obviously, everything mechanical is top notch. IMO, from the ones we looked at when shopping, they lack the very essentials we wanted while camping. Cupboard space was limited, kitchen space was not cook friendly and the bathrooms left some desirability. I know there are exceptions, Mr. Mark's for example, but I don't need a table that lights up when I sit at it. I don't need a complete wet bar etc. One salesman, when I asked about cooking in the kitchen, looked at me like I was nuts. His comment was most buyers eat out. Again, Prevosts are awesome machines and last forever. But I'd rather put my money into living space which is where I spend most of my time. I only drive 3 hours on moving days which are only two or three times a month. The rest of the time I'm enjoying the comforts of the coach. Now if you ask me about the steerable tag---that's totally different....:B.....Dennis
  • Tom/Barb you are absolutely right and I have no argument. A Prevost is a different thing compleatly. All I’m saying is the look, the feel and the safety are without equal. It’s a matter of what is wanted and I would never demean another’s ride. Far too many great people out there driving all kinds of coaches. And we judge each other in the way we accord ourselves not on what we drive.

A Prevost is the Best of the Best of the Best! It's a bus, built of steel, aluminum and chrome! If there is a safer vehicle on the road I've not heard of it. To drive and/or ride in a Prevost is to say there is nothing it can compare to.

Everything that goes into a Prevost is the best money and technology can offer on the most solid platform there is. There are many folks very fond of Newell and they build a fine coach. But its a coach, it is not a bus and the difference is huge!

There is no doubt that what you say is true.

But the sales numbers indicates that there are many that believe we don't need to be that good.
My Newmar gets the job done. at 1/3 the price
  • There are a number of Prevost converters and there is not a bad one in the mix. Find one you like and that fits your budget and drive it. You’ll not be disappointed!

Never had one, but I've always heard Provost is king.

But is it really worth the extra cost?
  • Just drive a Prevost. Question answered!
A Prevost a few years old is miles ahead of the newest coach on the road. There are plenty for sale in most every price range. You just need to find the floor plan that works for you. Factory service is available Nationwide (not everywhere but certainly workable) and the chassis and engine can be serviced by thousands of service centers.
I own a 1988 Prevost. It's awesome. I have been considering a new coach and only Prevost's are on my list of possible replacements.
