the converter charger (run via the generator or shore power) will create 12vdc & there for power the fridge (and any other 12v dc appliance or light).
Is the OP plugged in?
Why would you have the battery off if you are plugged in?
Since the OP was priming with propane I had assumed it was NOT plugged in. Don't even need propane if plugged in.
