Qestion about tow vehicle

Several parts to the real answer:

Historically, MANUAL transmission Subarus are towable 4 wheels down.

Recently, Subaru changed that so their answer is "none are towable 4 wheels down".

I do not know if this was for liability/warranty reasons (i.e. the lawyers) OR because of a mechanical change.

If an automatic, they have never been towable 4 wheels down (or on a dolly for that matter).

I have been shopping this year and looked into the 2018 Subaru Forester. Since the Motorhome Towing guide didn't list it, I went right to their website and pulled up the owners manual. Towable 4 flat with manual transmission only.

All Subaru's with the CVT transmission must be trailered according to the Remco towing folks.

My 2013 out back said don't tow with all four wheels on the ground.

Your owners manual is ALWAYS the best place to check to see if it's towable. Things change from year to year, model to model. That would be the only information I'd trust.
