By the way I do agree with barmcd. Anything over 34 feet or so and I would want a diesel.

I look at RVing backwards from most people because for me it's not "pick a floor plan you like first". First and foremost is the platform. It's a motor vehicle and I have to like driving it. I've driven gas coaches and I didn't like driving them.

It's the same reason I didn't like pulling our travel trailer with our gas pickup. The gas engine just has to rev too high in too many situations and doesn't produce the torque of a diesel engine. Not only did the engine scream going up hills, we slowed down to 45 doing it. Pulling with a diesel engine is just better in my opinion.

If you're looking at a smaller motor home I guess a gas engine might be adequate, but I'd think a diesel would be a better choice for anything over about 34 feet.

We don't want to spend a fortune on a motor home, gas or diesel. We decided to move back a few years and get an older, quality diesel pusher instead of a newer gas coach. A diesel is more expensive to maintain and repair, but the odds are you won't have a lot of repairs for either one if you buy carefully.

Yep, have to agree with you. My DP is so noisy it drive me bonkers.

I can't tell you how many times my wife has to get up and track down a noise. The tinkle from the wine glasses hanging the in rack drives me nuts, not to mention when an MCD shade is not all the way up or down and it bounces against the valance. Also, every time the ice maker harvests there is the rattle of the ice cubes dropping and than the water pump cycles. Just to make matters worse, occasionally the vacuum cleaner in the closet is not stowed properly and it rattles against the cedar panels.

Just terrible.

Looking for a older DP right now and we've driven lots of coaches in the last three months. What we've noticed is that there are lots of noises that catch your attention when the engine isn't obtrusive. Wind noise from the door, the knocking of an awning strap, an cabinet door rattling. I'd assume you wouldn't hear that over the engine in most gas motor homes.

I'm one of the gassers. Had both, prefer gas vs diesel. One fuel; MH, genset and toad. Kess expwnsive overall is gas.

The Work Worse chassis come with the lower flatter doghouse.

Some rigs have higher frame rails which lowers the engine hump.

I've been looking at gassers and I'm curious if some have less of an engine hump than others. Some look like it would be difficult to get out of for driver and passenger. I've just seen it in pictures, maybe its not that bad in real life?
