- Navy_SmokerExplorerBased on the feedback here, I must be the luckiest person in the world. I bought a 7720 in March and have used it on 5 trips so far. The longest was from Baltimore to Natchez. I have had zero issues with it and will continue to use it on future trips.
- teddychampExplorerOver the years I have used many GPS on Land and on the Water incl. Copilot,NavStar etc. The Rand McNally 7720/7725 is one of best priced and Functional Unit on the Market today. Rand Mc Nally is one of the Oldest Map makers in the Country and produces a no nonsense and accurate GPS for RV's.
- G_LewisExplorerI looked at the site you posted and the Garmin looks like a winner and at $400 it is a good price for what it offers.
- chili_s_tripExplorer IIYou may want to check out the just announced Garmin RV 760LMT GPS available in July. Its Garmins first dedicated RV GPS. http://sites.garmin.com/rv/
Good luck/

rexabbot,
I like your idea, but have a question. Does the ipad work off satellite or cell towers? Will the app work in stand alone mode? We have traveled some places where there is no cell service, and have been places with satellite problems.
It needs to acquire satellites to show your current position. The celluar iPad versions have a built in GPS receiver. I have a WiFi only iPad and added a Bad Elf GPS Receiver It has been working great for me. The app will be receiving the Good Sam campground database update some time after 7/1. - tohareExplorerrexabbot,

I have the 7720 and love it. The 7725 is identical to the 7720, it just has been rebadged for Good Sam. I have used my 7720 alot and it has never lead me astray. I know a couple of other RV'ers that have them and have had no issues. I would buy it again.

X2.
I always look on a map before I hit the road and check it against the GPS. If I find something hincty, I alter the directions. Sometimes, it is as simple as going in and checking your RV settings. - goldviperExplorerI have the 7720 and love it. The 7725 is identical to the 7720, it just has been rebadged for Good Sam. Les - jcthorneExplorerHorrible due to its very poor reliability. Having been through 3 of them and Camping World's refusal to honor the extended warranty...never again. Back to a Garmin. With a few POI files loaded its every bit as good as the RVND, faster and much more reliable. And I bet SquareTrade will not argue with me if it fails during the warranty term.
Its been a long time since I have run into a piece of electronics gear as poorly designed and built as the RVND units. Rand McNally is a map company, not an electronics designer and it shows. - AlanDavid44ExplorerI, too, read the glowing review in Highways and thought the RVND 7725-LM sounded great. I have a Magellan and a Garmin, but those units somethimes send you into places you don't want to be with a trailer.
I bought the RVND and my first trip was to Key Largo from Boca Raton, FL. The unit put me onto I95 for a long way (to Atlantic Blvd) instead of the way I normally get to the FLA Turnpike, so I thought it must know something about the ease of getting on the pike there or something. Not true, though. Coming back, I was already on the tunpike coming out of Homestead and the unit directed me to go into downtown Miami, get onto HWY 1 and then to I95. I used to work in Miami and anyone who knows that route knows it would be your worst nightmare with a 40' trailer.
I had already input all the parameters about my vehicle and said I wanted the fastest route and tolls were OK, so I was amazed the GPS logic would be so stupid as to route an RV into downtown Miami! We tried saying "avoid freeways", so it told us to take HWY 27 to South Bay and then come back east to I95. That's neither the fastest or the shortest route! I couldn't get it to shut up about I95 while going up the Turnpike, so I had to just shut it off!
I like a lot of the features of this unit, but I'm going to send it back because I fear where it might take me if I didn't know any better.
