RE- " REFRIGERATOR"'

OK, I had the fans replaced, and that little round thing that tells the fans when to come on. All that, and still no help. 54 degrees in the fridge and minus 4 in the freezer. Haven't got the bill yet for that repair but it took 3 guys to pull it out and put it back.
I do know the fans were $107.00 each. any more suggestions????

  • Thanks for all the possibility's, I am now going to try to answer all your questions. First off the guy talked me into replacing both fans as they did not seem to turn very fast or put out much air. He told me they don't last very long and mine were getting old and while I had the refrigerator out, go ahead and replace them.
When he plugged them in direct they ran, just did seem to put out much air. When he wired past that little thing that tells the fans when to run they ran, hooked them back up and they would not. So he replaced it with the same kind 130/15F.
Then he heated that little thing with a hair dryer and the fans kicked on.
The temp was then set on 7 and was allowed to run approximately 6 hours. the fans shut off and the temp inside the fridge was 60 degrees.
I then turned it up to #8 and it ran all night and brought the inside down to 42 degrees as the outside temperature had dropped to about 60 degrees over night. As the day started to warm outside so did the inside of the fridge. The fins inside the fridge did nothing but drip water all day. It put off so much water that the drip pan outside nearly filled.
It does the same on LP or AC.
The refrigerator only started doing this last trip out which was only a couple of weeks ago.
One other thing, the circuit board was the first thing he checked.
Ok, did I miss any thing.
Hey, I really do appreciate the help.
Yes, I thought the price for the fans were a little steep but I called the dealer and that was the price they quoted.
  • mine did this, put a bungee cord across the frig door ,check temp before and two hrs later, that,ll tell you if your door gaskets are good. just looking won,t tell you. but this trick will.

With -4 in the freezer you should be getting 40 in the reffer. How long has it been running since the repair and how much stuff is in it? How cold are the fins in the reffer section? Is it in a slideout?
    *Dennis, much better picture" :B
  • I think you need to have it checked by someone OTHER than the repair facility that did your fan repair. My fans, triple the output of the OEM, were $4.97 EACH. There's other checks to be done.

What did they do to determine your fans needed to be replaced in the first place.??

Disconnecting the thermister, (unplug the connector by the light) will force the fridge to run all the time. Using a GOOD thermometer, check the temps after 1-2-and 3 hours. If the box temps fall, the thermister is bad. Easy fix.

Are you running on A/C or LP..?
Have you reset the box? Remove the 12V wire, wait 30 seconds and plug it back in to reset it.
Have you checked the 12V supply.? There's a fuse inside the black box.

Let us know what you've done so far, trouble shooting wise. The dealer ripped you off...Dennis
  • egh33 I was in the same boat the ice cream in the freezer was rock hard but the frig was 52degs on a good. So I just went with the Samsung 197 got it on sale for $1079 and $970 for install and wood trim, now the freezer -2 and the frig +38 install took about 7hrs. Hope you get it fixed what ever way you go.

  • VERIFY the clearances (actually lack thereof in most dimensions) of your coach's refrigerator installation.

Open areas above the refrigerator and excessive back of refrigerator to outside wall dimension really cut into refrigerator performance.

And if in a slide out (already diminishes cooling performance) a "transition" from top of refrigerator to the top grill helps.

Is performance the same on both 120 VAC and propane? If one is inferior to the other, troubleshoot the one not performing up to specs.

If all that meets the installation specs that came with your refrigerator, a partially plugged cooling unit is a likely suspect.

why were the fans replaced in the first place??.They dont fail very often from what I have experienced or read about? even if the fans had failed unless it hot out the fridge should cool properly.Mine does and fans only come on in hotter wather
I assume the thermister has been tested ? Does it cool poorly when either on LPG or 120V
Is it venting properly? is the thermostat reacting correctly(circut board)
cooling unit blockage I have read will cause major cooling problems

Have you checked your door gasket? What make, model and year of fridge? Does it have the original cooling unit?

Yea, door gaskets are good, O6 M/H so that makes the fridge probably an 05, yes, original cooling unit Norcold 1201
  • any more suggestions????
