You don't mention any brand names of your coach or converter. That said in general converters are not designed to be run with no batteries connected. The reason for this is the converter needs the capacitive effect of the batteries. The power produced by the converter is not "clean" and some converters won't even produce power if they don't see a minimum voltage on the output side. It is very possible to damage a converter by operating it without batteries installed.
