Re-Sealing a rubber roof

You can cover the existing sealant once so long as it's not too thick else the aged thicker material will crack and leak. You must make the existing material sparkling clean. Some prefer to use regular dawn dish washing soap others, myself included like mineral spirits.

Mine was old enough that I scraped it off, then applied new dicor. However, I went one step further and covered the new dicor with aluminum duct tape:

Look at the front cap seam between the rubber roof and the fiberglass cap:


I did the same for all surfaces where I caulked with dicor - and I re-sealed everything on the roof when we purchased the rig in 2010.

This seals the surface of the dicor so it collects no dirt and better yet, doesn't crack. None of the areas look any worse than when I did the work.

Read the directions on the tube first but I used 409 with a scrub brush, then followed up with acetone or alcohol and applied. It has held up without fail for 3 years now.
