Re: V10 oil consumption

When I bought my '85 new the fleet manager said I'd get about 7 miles per gallon of fuel and 1 quart of oil per thousand miles with my 460. I think the oil is a consumable because it is not in a totally sealed system. I think some leaks into the top of the cylinders and down the valve guides,etc. You can't close it off completely, otherwise you wouldn't be adequately lubricating the seams.
