Please DO FOLLOW UP with whatever the problem was/is, and, the solution to it. I've had the R/B in two different vehicles for about 5 years now and it's been problem free. But, that doesn't mean anything. I've had both the Ball type and the u-joint style and to me, the u-joint style seems to be a bit more loose operating than the ball type, could be just mine.
But, I don't know which style the OP has but, on mine, there's a large nut on the side, just in front of the actuator lever. I'd maybe remove the nut and find out what comes apart and see what's binding up in there. If it's out of warranty, who cares, just take it apart, if you can that is, and see what makes it click.
