Rear Jacks not working - sometimes

2007 Holiday Rambler Ambassador - Power Gear tripod leveling system

The rear jacks will not extend; however, this is an intermittent problem.

Two nights ago when we parked they worked fine and today, after moving our coach to a different town, they will not even down. The front jack seems to work fine.

Have checked the fluid level and it looks fine. Have attempted the manual operation and they will still not work.

This issue started has just started within the last 6 weeks while we are traveling through Alaska.

Any ideas of what might be happening? No, it's not too cold here.

Thank you in advance for your help.

  • Also: Check the POWERGEAR website. Much information. Also the 1-800 phone number. A real live PERSON should be able to help you.
  • Have you ever lubricated your shafts?

I don't think it's the problem but worth a try.

When mine need lubrication I have problems retracting them. My manual recommends using transmission fluid to lubricate them.

I wipe it on with a cloth. In the past I had used WD40 in a pinch but the transmission fluid lasts longer.
  • There are power gear manuals on line...are your two front slides hydraulic?..do they work?...it sounds like the control solenoids for the rear wont kick in..do you have an allen wrench to work the solenoids manually...and since they worked intermittently it sounds like a possible loose connection...go to the jack motor and make sure the connection is seated on the jack solenoids..the jack motor is behind the ac condenser fan.....this is the second compartment from the rear with the soda machine key that opens the door to the ac condenser..that opens also with the key...the jack mechanism is right there...
  • I don't think we are going to learn much about the problems with no other answers.

    Still hoping for some clues.

I need to know/read the suggestions on this since my front jacks will not go down. Yeah, I know I have a MH but sometimes you learn from other posts regardless. tks/Mikey
