As many of our forum members know, there has been a recall on a part of the Norcold refrigerator. I have had four replacements and now waiting on the part for the fifth time. I am wondering if other members are having the same problems so many times as I have had. Does any of the forum members have any remedy for the replacement part. Is there anything that I may be doing or anything that I can do to keep from this part going bad so often. I had this part replaced in Sept. 2014, went to Fl. for the winter and came back home the first week of March 2015. Everything worked perfectly. I parked it under my shed and did not use it for about 2 months. When I was getting ready to take a trip yesterday, the refrig. would not come on. When this replacement part goes bad, the little red light blinks and nothing works. Will not switch on or anything. If anybody has a solution, I would sure appreciate the info. I don't know the name of the replacement part, but its on the back side of the refrig and on the outside. Thanks in advance William

It is a 'electronic high-high temp sensing' safety device that cuts all DC power to fridge.They (Norcold) or now up to REV F..........which should tell you that you are NOT the only one that has had failures of device.Failure rate is high enough to question what good is device?Dometic has a 'recall' device also.........no electronics used.Just simple rewiring scheme incorporating an addition high temp sensing thermodisc which cuts all dc power if it trips. VERY low failure.Norcold 'recall control box' can be reset using a strong magnet.Lay magnet on face of box and move it make/forth side to side top area until you hear 'click' and RED light goes out.........PROVIDED that is hasn't really cut off power due to high-high temp (ammonia smell/yellow residue around burner area, 'no-co' faults etc.

Search "ARP" on here and forget NoCold and rev F bandaid. Six tries to get something that shuts the power off when there is not a problem :S

Which Norcold refridgerator? Or is this for all of them.

We went through 4 mod upgrades as well It was a real pain. But when our fridge went up in smoke it probably saved the day though. There was a fair amount of charcoaled wood behind the fridge when we eventually ended up tossing it out and putting in a residential. I suspect without the mod it would have been a fire. Definetly worth having.

Wouldn't it be nice if norcold fixed the problem instead of adding junk.'

I believe the model no. for the norcold ref. is the 1200. I may be wrong on that, but I am sure someone on the forum knows better than I dol

I just looked at Norcold site. Here is the info on model numbers:

Identify and write down the refrigerator model. If it is a Norcold 1200, 1201, 1210 and 1211 model, go to step 2.

step 2.
Identify and write down the refrigerator serial number. If the serial number falls in the range of 315525 and 13088811, go to step 3.

step 3.
Identify and write down the cooling unit serial number. If the serial number falls in the range of 700000 and 13085759, go to step 4.

step 4.
Call your dealer immediately.

ALL 4 door 1200/1210 series Norcolds get the recall kit. Failure of the recall can be caused by slow drain on the coach batteries. NOT sudden loss like a battery disconnect. You CAN reset with the magnet method already mentioned here. But, I have found resetting works better with NO 12 volt to the recall box, disconnect the ground or battery power in when using the magnet. Failure can also be the result of the recall doing its job and the CU has leaked the ammonia and the temp goes over the 700 degree threshold to trip the recall box. Failure of the recall is rare. I rarely have to reset or get a customer in that has had a non CU leaker causing the failure. IF someone has had more than 2 recall boxes AFTER the REV E, then I would suspect the install was not done correctly. Doug

Other Norcold recalls

N841, N821, N641, N621 and 1082 gas/electric 2 door refrigerators, having cooling units with serial numbers from 1038000 to 1099000.

These refrigerators were mostly installed in, but limited to vehicle models 1999 to 2000.

Owners who have had the heater element replaced in one of these cooling units should call: 1-800-767-9101 to get their refrigerator upgraded to current product configuration.

Also 400 & 800 Series and other models (not just 1200 series)

What residential unit did you use? We had a fire, whose damage is FINALLY being repaired. The insurance company won't pay for the fridge because it caused the fire (absurd). Anyhow, I am trying to find a residential one that will fit where the 1200 came out of.
