DeanCHS1980 - You have done a lot of thinking about selecting a motorhome. I found myself agreeing with you for a lot of your thought process.
However, how did you decide on a motorhome versus a camping trailer? Some RV'ers omit that thought process. The way we resolved the situation is that we wanted to travel and see the country. That directed us to a motorized camper because we could stay for 1 or a few days and then easily move on.
There are RV'ers that are content to only travel a few hundred miles every summer and set up camp and sit for a couple weeks and fish, hunt, local site see etc. This type of RV'ers would be better suited to either a bumper pull or fifth wheel pulled by a truck of some sort. Your investment might be less and your enjoyment may fit better.
I presume you have gone through that process and are settled on motorized camping.
One additional comment, you are looking at the current floorplans and chassis. When you look at today's offerings, some are on the Sprinter, RAM ProMaster, or Transit that formerly were on Ford, Dodge, or Chevy. One website that is interesting for shopping is PPL that shows floorplans and usually has pictures.
