Refrigerator is not switching to Propane

We have 50 amp service at our house so I did not check the refrigerator working on propane. We were leaving for a trip and when I unplugged the 50 amp chord and stowed it, I noticed the refrigerator did not switch over to propane. Wanting to get on the road, I started the generator and ran it so that the refrigerator could continue to work on electricity. (We also got to enjoy the roof top a/c units as well.)

Now we are home and I better get something done to get that whole thing working again. But, what do you think it is that happened and is there something I can do to fix it?

I have discovered a similar problem. Have yet to check why but mine does not automatically switch to propane when electric supply (shore or generator)is cut off. I can manually switch it to propane and it works fine. Don't know if it will switch the other way.

If your refer has the AUTO switch, it will switch back and forth when you connect or disconnect 120 power. The default on AUTO is 120 if 120 is connected. Doug
  • When trying to AUTO from 120 to LP. The Refer will NOT show LP--- IF the refer is NOT in a cooling cycle. If the refer was OFF due to reaching temp, it will only show LP if the refer starts to cool after the Thermister calls for cooling. This is true for your scenario where you leave it plugged in until you are ready to leave. Doug

  • Does the "Check" light come on? Is the battery disconnect switch set to "store"
  • Sometimes if it has been a while since running on propane, it will take a while for us. I just keep trying every few minutes and it eventually turn on.
