Removal of Sharp OTR Microwave/Convection Oven

The micowave portion has stoped working and I would like to remove the unit and see if it can be repaired. It is in a 2002 Holiday Rambler Endeavor. There is no access to the front bolts that hold up the unit. They are covered by the bottom of the cabinet above the microwave. I would prefer not to have to distroy the bottom of this cabinet to access the bolts. Any advice? Thanks

  • My 04 Endeavor had 2 diagonal bolts from the bottom outside corners underneath a removal panel. And several under the MW towards the back. The entire unit was mounted on the back panel, no other bolts.
  • Plan on pulling the cabinet floor.

There are two bolts that hold the microwave on the top along with the two diagonal long bolts that go in from the bottom front.

My cabinet floor was stapled into the frame work with about 50 staples. Brilliant.

I used four wood screws when I put it back together.

My problem was that the Sharp R-1874 would run 59 seconds and stop. The problem was a internal switch that needs to be replaced.
  • Do you have the installation instructions phamlet for this unit? We have a 2001 Holiday Rambler Endevor also and I was just looking through our Warranty file and found ours, yes our is a problem also but not to be replaced just yet, ours is something else. If you don't have the instructions let us know, we'll see how we can be of help. Just joined RV.net so we're also looking for information. Thanks
  • Don't know specifically how to remove the item, but, if it is just a loss of power problem I do know how to find the internal fuses... If that is the problem, send me a message here..

  • Not a microwave, but I had a coffee maker that was mounted from above, except I could not find the bolts. Turns out the cabinet was engineered with a false bottom inside the cabinet. Slipped a knife in the crack between the inner bottom and the sidewall, lifted out the inner bottom, and there were the bolt heads. Removed the bolts, dropped the inner bottom back in, and all done.
Maybe yours has a false bottom too?
    Good luck!
  • Make sure there are not screws/bolts from just inside the cabinet on each side going down into the microwave. Shelf paper or something covering them? Feel for them with your fingers, if you have to. Maybe filled in with paint or dirt? I am not familiar with your rig but microwave mounting is not much different than a home. They should be there. Once the bolts are removed and the front of the unit lowered some, the back of the microwave should lift off a lip in the back.
  • Mine had all of these attachments:

Diagonal bolts (2) from the bottom of the MW upwards to the back wall.
Diagonal brackets from the top of the MW to the back wall at each side.
J-molding mounted to the back wall at the bottom of the MW, that you need to lift the MW over.
Screws from the bottom of upper cabinet near the front into the top of the MW.
The bottom of the upper cabinet needed to be removed.
  • Double check your owners manual as to how the microwave is attached to the wall. Many are hung from the rear wall with diagonal bolts that come up from the front bottom of the microwave itself, rather than bots through the cabinet above it.
