Renovating my Rig

Hello, my wife and i are new to the RV community. We bought a 2000 Winnebago Brave 33V and decided to renovate the interior. We plan on living in our RV full time, with me me being in the military we have figured it would be a fun adventurous gotta do it while we are young type ordeal. We plan on selling our RV once I get out of the military, so would the work we put into our rig effect the resale price or even make it marketable? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you

  • I'm a 35F, figured if the army is gonna give me money to live off of it should go towards something that's mine and not something I'm renting.
  • Makes sense, i wasnt expecting to double our money on it just hoping it might atleast maintain its value. We are not planning any cross country trips yet but if we enjoy living in it most definitely we will upgrade and give it a cross country whirl. Thank you guys for the info.
  • An RV will wear faster than a stick build house. Up side to that, it costs less to fix things in an RV.

    On a side note, What's your MOS? I'm currently a 68W.
  • If the work is very good, it may increase the resale slightly, though usually nowhere near enough to be profitable. If the work is ho-hum or worse, it may decrease the resale value some, of course depending on what the condition is originally.

By and large, though, I wouldn't expect a vast change in value for a 20 year old motorhome. The value is rather limited to begin with due to the age. I generally agree with Dave that you'd be best served by doing what works and appeals to your sensibilities and not worry about the affect on resale value.
  • Okay, yah we are just doing mainly cosmetics but we have gotten rid of some out dated furniture (i.e. the 1990 Era sofa bed). Also we plan on installing a washer/dryer unit to accommodate us since it will be our residence. Do you know how the RV will wear and tear as we live in it? So we can do proper maintenance and not get any surprises.
  • It may help with the resale depending on your renovation skills. But I wouldn't plan on making any big bucks on it. I would just renovate to meet your needs and plan on not making much of a profit. Lots of used RV's out there. JMHO.
