Replace 3240 BW converter in a 1988 Hawkins Motor Coach

I have a 1988 Hawkins Motor Coach and she runs like a champ and everything works except for the 3240 BW converter finally gave out. It has a fuse panel on it as well so I am looking for a replacement. The real question is how do I get the old one out and the new one in since it is under the fridge and there is very little space. Do I need to remove the fridge and go at it from the top? If anyone out there has replaced something like this please let me know and also if anyone knows of a replacement for this converter that would be helpful as well. Thanks Kokomo
  • Bestconverter is a family business. They answer the phone at all hours of the day and night, and willing to help people in distress by getting stuff shipped fast and giving helpful over the phone info.

Even if it cost a little more, you know what you are getting and they are always there to call on.

I'm sure they will recommend some sort of multi-stage converter that will not cook the batteries like old units tend to do.

  • Usually the converter proper is a separate sub-chassis when it's mounted as a part of the distribution panel, and can often be replaced with more or less ease without greatly disturbing the rest of the setup. You generally can get at them from the front (removing screws and sliding out the unit).

I'd suggest contacting the nice people at bestconverter.com; they have a lot of expertise in these sorts of things, as well as having good prices on new converters.
