Replace broken latch on luggage (outside) cabinet

I broke one of the plastic "fingers" on the door latch on the outside basement cabinet door on my 2005 Fleetwood Bounder Model 35E. I took off the handle, released the rod that attaches to the latch, took the two screws out that hold the latch to the cabinet frame, but cannot get the old latch out of the cabinet frame. Can't push it out. Nothing moves. Any suggestions would be appreciated. I have a new latch.
  • Thanks Brian, I went to their website and the metal ones only cost $3 more than the plastic ones. Sounds like a good deal.
    Thanks
  • I just repaired one of mine yesterday that had broken.......like the previous poster said, some gentle prying should free it up. Make sure the rod isn't hanging up on something. The plastic ones break......I'm a firm believer in replacing them with the metal pluggers from.

  • You mean the latch that is in the door frame? It will pry out. I used two thin blade screw drivers and pried evenly. There is a company that makes steel versions that won't break. I put those on the doors that I use a lot. The plastic ones on the others. My Fleetwood is an 05 and they start breaking.
