Does anyone have suggestions for a facility in northern CA to replace existing carpet with either vinyl or laminated floor in a 39 ft. DP? It is impossible to keep clean now as the carpet is a light colored beige. Also, for anyone who has had this done, do you notice a big difference in noise and floor temperature? Is there a price range I should be prepared for?Thanks for your input

We had to deal with the same problem with the carpet, this summer I replaced the carpet with Allure flooring from Home depot. I didn't do the bedroom yet and not the bathroom as that was vinyl tile. We have full slide so we left about 6 inches of carpet on the big slide side, but we doubled it over and stapled in down so the slide climbs on the carpet strip to raise itself up before sliding on the Allure. It cost me about $650 for the material. I removed the old carpet and put in the required sub floor and had a retired carpet layer help me replace the floor for $500. I had a bid on the same job from a RV shop who has a great reputation which came in about $3000. So far so good. If you google replacing carpet on a MH, there are some good threads on the what other replaced their carpet with. Good luck!;)

I also did my own----don't understand how carpet ever got in a camper that's used in sand, dirt, mud, etc.....ruins carpet quick. Mine has been in there for several years and I use the DP at the race track about every weekend.....love it.

Put marble in my conversion and granite in Airstream trailer I already soldCan't imagine more practical floor (and better looking) and worth the extra weight. Put laminate in front of my conversion and then had to cover it with rug to make it "friendly". If I had to redo it, I would marble it from front to the rear. I lay floors for a living and we might live close by, so if you want consultation PM with your phone number.

To each his own but I like carpet in my MH. We just take our shoes off if they are dirty just like we do in our own home. Carpet is warmer, quieter, and in my opinion , prettier. But to each his own.

Marble

Marble is softer than granite, therefore less recommended for high-traffic floors, but I have seen 4,000 years old marble bathrooms in Italy, or Greece and even they are not functional, but still standing.

If your carpet gets too dirty with the current color, replace it with a somewhat darker color and call the carpet cleaners once or twice a year (I full time so twice a year) to get it looking good again. Get the very best carpet, which is a far cry from the manufacturers carpet, and you feet will stay warm when it's cold outside. My carpet was installed in '94 and is just reaching the end of it's life. I will replace it with the latest and greatest carpet and padding when I can find the time.

We put Allure in our house and after 1 year it all has to come out. It shrinks. Seams opened up. Never again.

I don't know how you installed yours, but we free floated the flooring. So far so good.
