Replacing Hehr sliding window handle gasket??

I have a good-sized side sliding Hehr window. The long handle that runs along the edge popped off as the rubber gasket came loose. It looks like this is just a press fit - get the gasket over the edge of the window and then the handle 'presses' on over the gasket. I have a new rubber gasket piece - trouble is I'm at a loss as to how to to get this handle pressed back on. And yes, I'm trying to do it without taking the window out...

Anyone have any tips? I hope...

  • Thanks Fred! I found the stuff on Amazon and will order it...I think it's possible to install this seal and the handle, but I'm pretty sure I would have to remove the window. If I can avoid that, I will...

  • When I repaired a fogged window that had a sliding portion, I had a hard time getting that handle removed. Trying to reuse the gasket and get it reinstalled was impossible. I glued the handle to the window without the gasket using the same sealant used on the window. The sealant was C.R. LAURENCE 877 CRL Super Spacer Sealant, available on Amazon. It has held together for 3 years now.
