replacing wiper blades

I would like to convert my 32 inch wipers to a 28 inch blade which can be purchased at any store. The wipers I have on the newmar kountry star have a j hook which is very wide. Is it possible to convert this large hook to the smaller one found on the automotive 28 inch blades? Thanks
  • I found the wide (12 x4) wiper arm, 28 inch replacement blades at a auto parts store. They are Trico part No. 67-284. The auto part store ordered them and had the in in 2 hours, cost $30 each.
  • I discovered that the "factory" replacements for mine are $70/ea. I'll be searching for suitable more economical replacements when the time comes. Good info here!
  • I have those wide ones on our Itasca. We were on the road and had one go bad and could not find one anywhere. No truck stop, auto parts store etc. Ended up getting the brand name off the wiper and Granger had them! Ordered two sets so I carry spares with me now.
  • My solution is to buy two in the fall at CW when they are half price (at least the last two years). Put them on each spring when headed home from Florida.
  • The conversion to the narrower arm and blades can be done for about $100.00 through DEC. If you do it this way you can still run a 32" blade from DEC. The blades are around $15.00 each.

  • Also its such a better standard size available anywhere. Very cost effective.
  • Thank you, I will try the Bosch blades. I looked at the Bosch blades on my car and they would not fit the 1/2 inch wide J hook on the motor home.
  • Been there - done that just recently.

We have a 2010 Fleetwood 'Discovery' and I bought a set of standard 'ol 28" blades from WalMart and they worked just fine. Our rig has the same "large" J hook arrangement as you describe.

Follow the instructions that come with the blades, but from what I can tell, you just have to either remove or reverse the standard attachment and it'll work just fine.

For what it's worth: I went with Bosch wipers.
  • I did it with my present coach...bought a set of arms from Diesel Equipment Corp-wiper division in Greensboro NC. Now I can use just about any frame less or standard blade up to 32 inches that is on the market and can be bought at Walmart or an Auto parts store.
