- Nutinelse2doExplorerYes, Robin's idol Jonathan Winters commited suicide as well.
What a tragic loss. Proves money cannot buy happiness. Robin's
passing is a huge loss for us. Live on Broadway... So many classic lines
in that act. Mrs Doubtfire was one of our favorites. Rest in Peace Robin. - mtofell1ExplorerAlways so sad to see someone lose the battle against a form of mental illness. Also, a reminder that life as the "rich and famous" isn't always happy and isn't what most of us regular people think it is.
Robin was so talented and such a great comedian while on stage. From what I remember of watching him in interviews and off-state stuff I'm not surprised to learn he battled with some depression. He never seemed comfortable in his skin and would never really "open up". It seemed he always had to be doing some character or bit.
It's so sad and I really hope the people close to him can find some peace soon. - kknowltonExplorer III believe Jonathan Winters was a suicide as well? (Not sure.) I know Robin really idolized him, and they were really kind of 2 peas in a pod - similar personalities, similar talents. Not necessarily suggesting it was a copycat act, but just - well, not surprising. Sad, but not surprising. We will all miss him.
- gboppExplorerTragic.
- joloooteExplorerAlways thought he'd end up in a rubber room & straight jacket.
- stew47ExplorerJust finished watching rv in honor of him. Rip robin. Might try to find mrs doubt fire now.
- Carrie_SExplorerVery sad news. I remember our family watching RV when we were considering buying a Class A. Watching that movie inspired us to buy and make many of our own RV memories. Rest in Peace, Robin
- Sfla2ExplorerGood Morning Vietnam
- down_homeExplorer IIMork and Mindy were just kids when I first saw them. We all miss him here.
God Speed Robin. - Golden_HVACExplorerI always liked Robin Williams in his early days, when he basically was using a lot more clean jokes. I watched him on Happy Days, and when he acted like a space alien. He was great, Na Nu Na Nu! Yes that was from Mork and Mindy. And he played a alien on Happy Days before Mork and Mindy was thought of.
I also thought that Robin Williams would have been a wonderful replacement for Jay Leno, however I had not watched to much of his 2000 - 2010 cable TV shows, where he talked like a sailor and could make a sailor blush. . .
Rest in peace! We will still remember you from your many shows!
Fred.
