Rooftop Airconditioner,,, so loud?

Hi, we tested the rooftop airconditioner the other day to see if it cools, and the noise is just nothing I'd want to listen to on a regular basis, is this normal or does it need replaced? To describe it I would say rattles and low tone annoying rumbles.

  • Our 2014 Salem Villa is loud and vibrates sometimes and other times it is quiet and can't hardly hear it. Fathers Day weekend was vibrating then quit. Turned it on while ago and loud and vibrating again. Blades are not hitting anything, they spin freely, shouldn't be dirty, might try tightening the mount bolts.

    Open to anything else. Thanks!!

I have called the dealer and got an appointment for mid July.

    X2!

  • Check for dirt on the fan blades, also lube the bushing on the motor. All of this is on top. This is a yearly thing.
  • They are noisy in general, unless you have a ducted unit, which I doubt in a 97 Georgie Boy. We run the bedroom A/C when we are in the living room and run the living Room A/C when we are in the bedroom. Also use a fan to distribute the cool air to where we want it. That helps keep down the noise. But if you only have one A/C....
  • How old is it? If it rattles then that can probably be fixed, rumbling may be more serious. We need more info about the unit.
